You Can Change Your Life

You can change your life.

Right now.

I know. Sounds too good to be true, but are you:

  • Laboring under the weight of your circumstances?

  • Pining as a prisoner of fear?

  • Allowing your health to dictate your destiny?

  • Allowing your position or career to determine your significance?

You don’t have to live as a victim of the hand life has dealt you.

No, there’s something bigger out there. There’s something we often fail to factor in–no matter what we profess; His name is God. And He wants to change our life.

Right now.

Yeah, I know, you already knew the “answer.” But here’s the real question: If we claim to know God and walk with Him why isn’t it changing the way we live? The bottom line is this: In our daily faith experience, we will either walk confidently with God or stumble along in uncertainty without Him. It will depend on how we look at things.

Literally.

For the quality of our life–no matter our circumstances–is determined by how we view it. That means we can’t change our lives until we allow God to transform our thinking about it. So let’s picture what we’re struggling with right now–that thing we want to change–and compare God’s perspective with ours:

  • With God’s perspective we have confident hope for the future. I Peter 1:3-9

“Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” Hebrews 11:1

˜ Without God’s perspective our hope reaches only as far as we can stretch in our own strength. Psalm 39:5

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him  . . . ” Romans 8:28-29

˜ Without God’s perspective circumstances grind us underfoot and dictate the quality of our life. Job 4:20

“There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear . . . ” I John 4:18

˜ Without God’s perspective fear imprisons us in a tight, self-focused cell. Proverbs 29:25

  • With God’s perspective poor health becomes a powerful platform from which to showcase God’s strength. II Corinthians 4:16-18

“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness . . .” II Corinthians 12:9-10

˜ Without God’s perspective poor health holds us hostage to its whims. Job 14:2

“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God . . .” I Peter 2:9-10

˜ Without God’s perspective we feel insignificant, a nameless face in the crowd. Job 7:6

Can you feel the difference between our point of view and God’s? We can’t control our world, but we can change how we live it–in light of God’s perspective or our own.

For when we walk with God and view our life through His eyes–

–it changes everything.
