Psalm 37:5-6 “Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this: he will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.”
I just returned from a writer’s conference where each year aspiring writers carefully pack up their dreams and carry them to an idyllic setting in the Santa Cruz mountains. And every year their dreams either soar above the redwoods or get trampled on the dirt paths that wind among them.
I wonder today if your dreams lay wilted and soggy along a woodland path.
If so, take heart, dear one, let’s not give up! God wants to meet us in that damp place and He may have plans for our dreams yet.
“But nobody cares about my project.” God cares about your passion to serve Him.
“Commit your way to the Lord.”
“But nobody wants my project.” God doesn’t always intend public, material success. Sometimes we are the project, and the process is the “product.”
“Commit your way to the Lord.”
“But I’m not even sure I’m supposed to serve God in this way…or even want to anymore.”
Commit your way to the Lord!
Instead of angsting about tomorrow, let’s follow Him, one step at a time, wherever He leads us today.
You certainly don’t have to be a writer to have dreams or to feel the crush of each flattening step as they’re trodden upon. God’s message is the same for all of us.
“Commit your way–yesterday’s journey, today’s path, tomorrow’s plan–to Me! Rest in My loving care. I gave the dream and I will unwrap it, in My time, My way. And I will shape it into what I want it to be.”
What dream in your heart has God yet to unpack?
